Agape Baseball

In 2003 the Agape Sports League began offering summer baseball. The program is open to children starting at age 5 and up with disabilities—for any one with a significant health condition, physical  or intellectual disability, who is unable to play on a typical team. Anyone registered at Agape Respite Care meeting the age criteria is also eligible to play. Agape Baseball offers a unique kind of respite for families as they are able to sit in the stands and cheer their loved one on!

A total of six games are played 2 nights a week in July, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. The games are played at the South Adams High School Softball Diamond on road 700 just off US 27.

The Agape Sports League is sponsored by community businesses and individual sports. There is no cost to the players, who receive a shirt, hat, individual and team picture, and a medal at the end of the season.

Each player may have a volunteer base buddy to assist them during the game. Players may choose to have the ball pitched to them, hit the ball off a tee or use an automatic batter if they are unable to hold a bat. The Summit City Sluggers out of Fort Wayne, Indiana are a huge part of making each game a success. Our players love to pair up with the Sluggers to “Play Ball“. We are grateful for their hearts for volunteering!
